Dear Matthew Thornton Families,
We are in full swing once again and what a great start we have had! Many thanks to all of you for your kindness and support over the last two weeks, particularly as we dealt with the heat wave. All went well. The students and staffed made the best of the situation and we all look forward to a change in the weather. We appreciated having so many parents brave the heat for our Grade 4-5 Parent Night on September 2. We will have our Grade 1, 2 and 3 Open House from 6-7 PM on Wednesday September 15. Your child is welcome to attend that event with you.
Now that the teachers have had a little time to get to know the students, we will be settling into our curriculum and providing each child what they need. Homework will be assigned now on a regular basis. We appreciate your support in helping your child to accept responsibility for the work assigned.
The first PTA meeting of the year will be held Thursday, September 9. Our wonderful president, Corrie Binette and President-elect, Sharon Fawcett, are working with the PTA membership to provide a welcome back Ice Cream Night on Wednesday, September 22. We look forward to seeing you there.
