Philosophy & Objectives
As a public school, it is essential to recognize and accept all students as unique individuals in terms of needs, interests, and abilities; and to effect, in cooperation with parents or guardians, positive changes in their intellectual, physical, emotional, and social development.
It is the responsibility of Londonderry Middle School to provide an atmosphere which fosters the creative spirit, encourages positive self-esteem, increases self-confidence, and creates opportunities for decision-making by its students while providing for the development of basic skills and awareness of personal needs and potentials.
In recognizing the rapid and profound physical changes in the early adolescent student, it is imperative that the curriculum offer adequate opportunities, which will enable students to be aware of the health issues which are vital to a healthy lifestyle.
While students should be exposed to a variety of teaching methods, which address diverse learning styles, it is essential that they develop skills in a learning by doing, cooperative approach. Furthermore, it is necessary that students be made aware of and exposed to acceptance of responsibility, tolerance, change, effective citizenship, and acceptable social qualities.
It is also understood that learning is a lifelong process, which is not limited to school experiences. A primary purpose of the school is to provide students with the skills and attitudes necessary to actively participate in their own education and which will foster constant learning throughout their lives.
The school is an integral part if the community. It is vital that there exist an active, voluntary, and cooperative effort among staff, parents, students and the community. The lines of communication must stay open to assure the coordination of mutual efforts to help students achieve future success.

- To provide an environment conducive to the development of a positive self-image, and respect for self and others.
- To give each individual quality educational experiences which will enrich life and provide the information to become a productive, successful member of society.
- To begin the process of exposing sudents to potential career opportunities that will aid the direction of their continuing education in high school and beyond.
- To provide students opportunities for participation in a wide selection of competitive, non-competitive, group and individual activities based on their intrest and abilities.
- To involve students in the development and application of school activities, programs, and policies.
- To provide academic programs and experiences appropriate to the needs, interests, and abilities of each student.
- To offer opportunities for research, creative and critical thinking, and problem solving.
- To teach students effective study habits and organiational skills.
- To support reciprocal relationships among students, staff, and the local community so that there is an exchange of ideas, services, and skills.
- To begin preparing students to assume their roles as active participants in a democratic and multicultural society.
- To keep students informed of the current health issues of today's society.

Employment of Minors in the State of NH
Anyone under the age of 16 must acquire working papers (employment certificate) no later than the first 3 days of employment however the school district recommends getting them prior to beginning work. You can only obtain working papers AFTER a job has been secured. You must obtain new working papers for each job obtained up until age 16.
- The employer should provide the student with an "Employer's Request for Child Labor form". This form should be filled out by the employer, signed, provide federal ID and contain a detailed description of the work being done by this student.
- The student and parent/guardian must take this completed form, latest report card and proof of age (birth certificate, passport, baptismal certificate, immigration record or a religious or official record bearing minor's age) to the School District Office. We are located at 268 Mammoth Rd. behind the police station in a grey building. Please call with questions 432-6920 x1101.
Minors ages 16 and 17 do NOT need working papers but do need a document signed by a parent or legal guardian giving permission for them to work. This must be done for each job obtained until the age of 18. This is not needed only IF the youth has graduated from High School or obtained a GED.
*The state of NH does not provide working papers for any state outside of New Hampshire.
