Biology Competencies

 

 

Quarter 1:       Students will demonstrate an understanding of the cycling of matter and the flow of energy   through cellular processes.

Quarter 2:       Students will demonstrate an understanding of how a cell functions as a system.

Quarter 3:       Students will demonstrate an understanding of how DNA contributes to the traits of organisms.

Quarter 4:       Students will demonstrate an understanding of how genetic variation contributes to natural selection and evolution.

  

 

Biology 10

Classroom Guidelines

1. Supplies: Three ring binder with 3 dividers labelled "My Work"; "Quizzes/Tests"; "P.O.D.s"

                    Pencil

2. Homework: Written homework is assigned twice a week, typically Monday and Wednesday.  Written homework is graded on effort.  Late homeworks will be graded on effort but then receive a 20% penalty.  Late homeworks may be turned in until grades close for either progress or quarter reports.  You are required to review biology notes and vocabulary on a daily basis. 

3. Labs: You MUST wear closed toe shoes on lab days.  If you miss a lab due to improper shoes, your lab write up will receive a 5% penalty.  

              No eating or drinking allowed in our biology classroom.  Drinks must be kept in the assigned area, NOT at your desk.

4. Quizzes/Tests: Quizzes will be given on a regular basis, typically on a Thursday or Friday. Tests will be given twice per quarter. If you are absent from class and miss a quizz or test, please speak to me about a make up time.
