  • MAKING UP WORK?

Globe        Willkommen!

Welcome to learning a foreign language!  If you learn a language you can speak to the world.

CP BEGINNING GERMAN 1:  This class introduces the student to the sound system and pronunciation of the German language.  Students will be conversing in German on limited topics.

CP INTERMEDIATE GERMAN 2 :  Reading and writing are given more emphasis at this level.  Focus on German as a communication tool continues.

HONORS GERMAN:  There are TWO honors level classes available to complete a 4-year language sequence for those interested in doing so.  Each  class involves INTENSIVE conversational practice and aims at refining fluency.  Media, cultural and literary readings are included.  Be prepared to work hard!  Wir werden viel lesen, sprechen und schreiben!!!

All students at all levels will need to bring in a "cultural tidbit" each quarter;  this is an interesting item/souvenir or piece of news/information that connects us to the German-speaking world.

German 1 is working with a new text this year entitled Deutsch Aktuell. The other levels use a version of the text called Komm mit!  In addition to the text I will provide a worksheet packet for each chapter that provides regular homework and in-class practice.  Remember, homework will be asssigned 4 nights a week; Monday through Thursday.  Homework may mean 2-3 exercises from the text or worksheet packet, a new worksheet or simply to study.

Each level will include 4-5 competency assessments.  These will focus on the 4 language skills (listening, speaking, writing and reading).  These will mesh with our regular activities and shall take place once a quarter.

During the day I teach in room 517 during periods A, B, E, F, and G. I am available most days for extra help/make-up and usually early mornings from 6:50 a.m. Be sure to see me for a pass or to confirm that I will be in our classroom.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with your questions or concerns!  I can be reached at 432-6941, ext. 2783 or by e-mail strammell@londonderry.org.

HAVE A GREAT YEAR! ALLES GUTE!

What to do when you have missed class:

- Long-term assignments should be completed/handed in on the original due date.

- If you miss just one day of class you will need to show your homework from the day of your absence and then the new assignment may be completed for the next school day.

- If you are absent 2 or more days you will need to make up all missed work as soon as possible within the 5 day guideline.  You should see me immediately upon your return to arrange for a time and place that works best for you.

- Make-up work is your responsibility!

DANKE!  smiley
